    Studying abroad - My experience.

The first time I left my country was when I was 15 years old and my parents gifted me a trip to the United States. Since then, I felt in love with the country and had this dream of studying there. As I play golf, I found the chance of making use of this sport as a tool to get an education in the U.S. Luckily, Otero Junior College offered me an incredible scholarship which helped me reach my dream. One thing I learned is that going on vacation to a country is not the same as living everyday there. I had to get used to a new culture and people. Specially the food! Ha ha. That was such a struggle for myself my first semester. Studying in another country is an amazing opportunity to personally grow.  You don’t have your mom or dad to get your problems fixed, or do your laundry and be there for whatever you need them. You start seeing things from another perspective and valuing stuff you didn’t even realize before, as it was there for you every day. Once you get out of your country for a couple of months, everything will be different once you get back. You will become a traveler, with a different mindset. Sometimes, people will say you act weird, that’s because you will add things from the other culture. If you have the opportunity to study in another country, go for it. You will never regret it. It is a lifetime experience that will make you grow in so many ways. The most incredible part is that you will make so many friends and relationships that you will keep in touch with for the rest of your life! People from all around the world! However, remember “Change your opinion, keep your principles; Change your leaves, keep your roots intact”.
