First time college applicant
US schools tend to have more formal programs to transfer and recognize courses from a country like Malaysia. See https://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/international-student-counsel/2015/02/03/tips-for-international-students-looking-to-transfer-schools.
The individual colleges in the UK tend to partner with UK-style schools in the UK and less with other countries. For instance, Coventry suggests their "online degree" program for international students who are not in close collaboration with Coventry. (Source;http://www.coventry.ac.uk/international-students-hub/partnerships-and-places-to-study/see-our-partners-across-the-world/inti-international-university-and-colleges/).
I recommend the US for the services that are available to assess transfer credit for international students.
