Job Description

The Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology (REES) invites applications for full-time (12 months) academic teaching staff (ATS, Assistant Lecturer) position in Agricultural Economics. The initial term will be 2 years (T12 full time), with the possibility of renewal, conditional on excellent annual performance reviews.  We are specifically interested in individuals with expertise in agricultural policy, micro-economic foundations in agricultural/environmental and resource economics, and applications of economics to agriculture, food business management and environmental / resource issues.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • This position will involve teaching 8 courses (e.g., 4 courses in the Fall term, 3 courses in the Winter term, and 1 course in the Summer term), with teaching obligations that may be adjusted to accommodate other responsibilities. Teaching may involve undergraduate and graduate courses.
  • The successful candidate will provide leadership to our growing 12-month course-based master’s program by providing support for student recruitment, mentorship, and program completion. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of university pedagogy,  a track record of teaching, and a desire to build a university career that is focused on programs for student learning.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD degree (or a PhD completed by August 2021) in the field of Agricultural Economics, Environmental and Resource Economics, Applied Economics, Agribusiness or a related field.
  • Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate-level teaching and relevant teaching and student mentoring experience in classroom settings.
